Earthworm Dissection

You will be required to identify the following items on an earthworm for the lab quiz:

·      anus

·      clitellum

·      crop

·      gizzard

·      intestine

·      pharynx

·      prostomium

·      seminal vesicle

·      ventral nerve cord

You will be required to know the functions of these earthworm structures for the lab quiz:

·      crop

·      aortic arches

·      clitellum

·      gizzard

·      intestine

Be able to answer these types of questions:

·      What is meant by metamerism?

·      How are earthworms ecologically important?   (at least two ways)

·      Was the earthworm you dissected a male or female?  Be able to defend your answer.

·      Know the Phylogeny of the earthworm you dissected in lab.

Be able to label a diagram of an earthworm.
